Here’s An Idea: Real Time Recaps
So I just had a dumb idea. I want to write about songs but restrict the writing period to the length of the song I’m talking about; i.e. a 3 minute songs means I have three minutes to say something about it.
The thing I say might be a review or it could be a story about or connected to the song. Knowing me, it will probably be more stories than reviews.
So I tried it out. Here’s what I did, I listened to the song and then gave myself the length of the song to write down what I though about as I listened. I then went back to fix my typos and drop in the you tube clip but I didn’t edit my thoughts. It’s not an exact science but it’s a way to capture something in the moment.
To give myself a challenge I picked a very short song but, it’s one I know very well. I may or may not do this again. Listen to the song below and see what I had to say about it.

The night after I quit drinking I drove around wondering what happened. I played this song 5 times. On the 3rd listen I started to sing, on the 4th I rolled the windows down and on the 5th I broke through. I felt as rough as this recording but just as alive.
